Tails from the Cages in the Back

Teenage Mom has 7 Children with multiple Fathers: Where is MTV?

Everyone thinks that puppies have a better chance of getting adopted out of shelters than older dogs. By and large that is true. But there is one type of puppy that is notorious for not surviving shelters, let alone being adopted—newborns.

Miracle Cure for the Arthritic Dog!

Black-lab-on-beach[1]A couple winters ago, my then 8-year-old black lab injured himself while playing at the beach. He was older so he limped from time to time but always improved after some rest. This time it was much, much worse. He couldn’t even place weight on one of his front legs. After a trip to the vet and radiographs it was discovered that he had some pretty severe arthritis in both of his shoulders. I could have placed him on a perscription NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) to help with pain and inflammation. But because of the potential side effects, I wasn’t thrilled about doing that That’s when my dog’s orthopedic doctor told me about a product called Adequan.

Meet Karen!

Karen (1)

Volunteer Spotlight “Karen Gaylord” Living Room Safari

Today we are hunting the wild Vice President of Must Love Dogs NW. We must move quietly, so as not to startle this particularly impressive specimen. Sshhh, do you hear the beat of the 80’s Hair Band in the living room. There she is—this is the extremely rare Karen Gaylord. Does everyone have their Skor Bar to try to draw her out? Good, good you brought the Moose Tracks Ice Cream and hot fudge. We will set that in the trap. The trap over there looks like a soft, comfy couch. But once the lovely and graceful Karen sits on the sofa it’s true significance is brought into play.

The Daily Coyote: A Story of Love, Survival and Trust in the Wilds of Wyoming

“The Daily Coyote” by Shreve Stockton takes me back to my childhood days of living on a large, working farm in Eastern Oregon, backed up to what seemed like an unending amount of land owned by the BLM (Bureau of Land Management), where regular coyote sightings were expected. The community of my childhood home could easily be seen just like the people of Ten Sleep, Wyoming. Shreve Stockton, a true city girl, fell in love with the beauty of the area and especially the small town of Ten Sleep while riding her Vespa from California to New York. As soon as she reached New York City, the City she loved and considered home, she knew she was destined to return to Wyoming and made plans to move to Ten Sleep with a population of 300. With no idea what this new life would bring or how she would support herself—Shreve bought a car packed up her things and hit the road.

Dead Dog Walking: On the Red Carpet

We at Must Love Dogs NW strive very hard to match our rescued dogs with families that can offer them a happy life that to a scared, lonely, and traumatized dog is nothing but a dream come true. One of our dogs, Lola, has had a bit of a special fairy-tail. Lola went from days away from being euthanized in a shelter to now being a television and movie actress—nay star. Yes, that scruffy little pup now hobnobs with A-listers and holds her own on the Red Carpet—no stain removers needed.

Santa’s Little Helper May Not Want a Chewy

littlehelperWith the holidays fast approaching I’m sure many of us are looking forward to spoiling our dogs with fun holiday treats, toys, rawhides and bones. Rawhide is a popular treat for dogs and can be found at most pet stores.
